Christine Dormaier

is a Certified Yoga Therapist in the teachings of T. Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar. She is the creator of the new video Strong Bones Yoga™ and is director of SoundYoga in Seattle, Washington.

Christine grew up in rural eastern Washington on an apple orchard. The quiet, healthful, independent life of her youth remains a focus as she guides and teaches those caught up in today’s hectic, high paced urban and suburban life.

Chris is also wife and mother of three. She strives to practice what she teaches in using yoga to help attain balance and integrate the diverse elements of her life. She enjoys gardening, walking, reading and time with family.

Christine came to yoga after many years in corporate America looking for relief from her asthma and arthritis. Her successful career change has helped her in counseling others making career and life transitions.

Christine Dormaier has practiced yoga for more than 12 years. She has completed over 1000 hours of training with her teacher Gary Kraftsow and the American Viniyoga Institute. She began teaching in 1991 and is the owner of SoundYoga in Seattle, Washington, where she directs 7 teachers. Christine conducts private yoga therapy, teaches Vedic Chant and leads teacher training at SoundYoga. Christine also teaches yoga as physical education at the community college level, and a variety of classes in corporate settings.

Christine received a B.A. in Communications in 1976 and a Masters of Science in Human Resources in 1991 from Seattle Pacific University focusing on Training and Development.

Christine believes that everyone can benefit from yoga. Her philosophy is “If you can breathe you can do yoga”.
